Wissam Hachem is a Co-Founder and Partner at EKP based in Riyadh. He has 20 years of experience in the Middle East, of which 15 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He specializes in corporate and commercial law (including foreign investment), and securities and insurance with particular emphasis on insurance transactional work, as well as capital markets. His expertise covers joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, public and private offerings, insurance-related transactions and corporate restructurings. He has also been the leading lawyer in relation to several high-profile IPOs and rights issues for several insurance companies and other corporations in Saudi Arabia. Recently, he was the leading lawyer advising on the first merger of two insurance companies listed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Wissam has in-depth knowledge in local laws and practices. He has spent most of his career in Saudi Arabia advising a large number of European, U.S. and Middle Eastern clients in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East in relation to project development, commercial contracts, company setups, franchising, as well as matters of general company law and corporate governance
He has been involved in high-profile litigation and arbitration matters in Saudi Arabia and can provide support to clients in this practice area.
Wissam has contributed to several publications. For example, he has authored the Insurance and Reinsurance Global Guide 2018 (covering Saudi Arabia and Lebanon) and the Commercial Arbitration Annual Review 2019 (covering Saudi Arabia).
Wissam has an LL.B. from St. Joseph’s University (Beirut, Lebanon). He is a member of the Beirut Bar Association, and is fluent in Arabic, English and French.
