Patrick Khoury is a Partner at EKP based in Dubai. Patrick has more than 15 years of experience in the United Arab Emirates. He specializes in corporate and commercial law with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate governance, compliance and foreign investment. He is an expert in structured finance, funds and corporate finance in the UAE.
His M&A experience includes: representing a Qatari foreign governmental entity in the course of its acquisition of a Lebanese bank having subsidiaries in France and the UAE, which was managed by the Central Bank of Lebanon; assisting one of the major Real Estate Banks in Abu Dhabi in its acquisition of equity amounting to AED 150 million in a real estate private joint-stock company and its retraction from the same; and restructuring a USD 1 billion family business along with the Deloitte Private Wealth UAE team. In addition, he assisted in representing the mandated lead arrangers in connection to the USD 1 billion PPP development of the New York University of Abu Dhabi. He has also been involved in drafting the regulations of the UAE Financial Institutions as well as the Hotel Operators regulations issued by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority.
Patrick has contributed to several publications such as “Law No. 7 of 2006 concerning Real Estate Registration in Dubai,” published in Gulf News in 2007; “The Leasing Contract”, a comparative study between the French and Lebanese laws, and “Going Public” where he discusses the UAE IPO market published by the Emirates Review magazine. Patrick is a regular speaker at seminars and conferences. He recently spoke at the “Investment Opportunities and Real Estate Ownership in the UAE”, in Karachi, Pakistan, and at the African Investment Summit where he discussed the “Sukuk Regulations and Issuance as per the UAE Laws”.

Patrick has an LL.M. from Saint Joseph’s University (Lebanon) in association with Paris II, Panthéon-Assas University (France), and an LL.B. from Saint Joseph’s University (Lebanon). He is a member of the Beirut Bar Association, and is fluent in English, Arabic and French.
